RE: Tiffin Motorhomes

Everybody would agree if everything was equal the tie breaker would be customer service. In that department Tiffin is the winner.
Before buying I spent more than a year looking at pushers. I found Tiffin to be far ahead of competition in all price/features in all price ranges.
While they use outside vendors for appliances, awnings, furniture,tv's etc. they make;
Outside walls, end caps, roof, glass windows, windshield, doors, cabinets and even offer their own chassis for several models.
If you have a problem while traveling and know dealers are within reasonable distance Tiffin will help find somebody who can.
A trip to Red Bay isn't necessary, but worth the time.
It's tough making a statement like this as it's largely opinion based. I happen to feel the same about my Newmar. It's 5 years old and I can count on one hand the number of issues I've had with it. Their customer service has always been top notch as well.

RE: Class A loan questions

If you do not have the money to pay for an unnecessary depreciating asset like a motor home or any RV, then you can not afford it regardless of the monthly payment amount.
In a perfect world! If this were the case, I doubt there would be many RV manufacturers in business right now.

RE: Proposed New Regulation In California

The article doen't mention RV's. They may be exempted as they have been before. Plus, it is the job of the CARB to come up with new approaches to reducing air pollution. Not everything they propose becomes law. Also, read the article, there may be financial help available if this happens.
For those who say this will keep them away from CA, well, see ya

RE: SLIDE OUT! SLIDE OUT!

Newmars come with built-in slide locks. When they're in the lock position, those slides aren't going anywhere. Of course, a couple of times I've forgotten to unlock them before I hit the slide out button. Not a good thing!

RE: Would you buy a new national RV?

I'm sure the National would be a fine motorhome. But why buy one when there are so many other good choices out there made by companies that are still in business. Motorhomes by nature can be a real pain in the rear....why add potential warranty issues to the list.

RE: 2008 Honda Element

I'd like to trade in my '05 Element in for an '08 for the added safety features of the newer models. I'm aware that the '08s are not approved for towing but does anyone know if a 2wd with a manual trans can be successfully towed. If so, I'm willing to give up my auto trans since I really like the vehicle.

RE: What if Earthquake hits and rigs on levelers?

I don't know what would happen. It's a gamble.
But, I will tell you about an experience. I was flying a Learjet, on short final to Santa Monica, and the tower advised that they were experiencing an earthquate,......"please say intentions". I landed, and while taxi-ing and while stopped on the ramp, the earth moved,...sideways. It was too weird. I feel pretty sheltered here in San Antonio.
Sheltered in Texas? Now that's a good one!

RE: Tire Purchase (Age)

The Goodyear site states that the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) says, "statistics indicate that the average life of an RV tire is five to seven years."
